PRODUCTION NOTES
Grahame wrote this song in 1977. It was the second song he wrote. It was recorded as the B-side of submission for an NME competition, with Mick on electric guitar, Phil Faint on drums, Steve Pilcher on bass and Grahame on acoustic. But the lyrics had not been finished so Grahame deliberately mumbled a lot of it! Mick may have come up with the signature riff, but nobody really remembers. Grahame finished the lyrics earlier this year; it only took him 41 years! To celebrate he re-recorded it for the album.
LYRICS
I had a hard time waking this morning
I had a hard time getting out of bed
I had lot to drink last evening
And I feel like the living dead
Then I saw another head in my bed
I said 'Hey don't you know this is my single bed?
Give me back the other side of my bed'
She opened her sleepy eyes
And woke up with a fright
'What you doing in my bed?' she said
'God have you been there all night?'
Then she said to me 'Just what is your game?'
'And tell me honey, what is your name?
Give me back the other side of my bed'
Well you can say binge-drinking's wrong
And that what we did ain't right
But if we could've walked straight
We never would have met up that night
Now every morning I wake up by her side
Things couldn't have worked out better
Even if I'd tried
She never gave me back the other side of my bed
I never gave her back the other side of her bed
She never gave me back the other side of my bed
I had a hard time waking this morning
I had a hard time getting out of bed
I had lot to drink last evening
And I feel like the living dead
Then I saw another head in my bed
I said 'Hey don't you know this is my single bed?
Give me back the other side of my bed'
